Betterself Inc. ("Betterself," "we," "our," or "us") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Betterself mobile application and related services (collectively, the "App").
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
01Information we collect
a. Personal information
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide, including:
- Name
- Email address
- Account login credentials
- Age and general demographic information (if provided)
- Payment information (processed by Apple — we never receive or store your full payment details)
b. Health & fitness information
If you choose to provide it, Betterself collects health- and fitness-related data, including:
- Workout activity, sets, reps, and duration
- Meal entries, calories, and macronutrients
- Habit and "Non-Negotiable" completion data
- Fitness goals and training preferences
- Body metrics (height, weight, if entered)
- Daily Health Score and Streak data
This information is used solely to personalize your experience and provide recommendations within the App.
c. AI coach conversation data
When you interact with the "Your Betterself" AI coach:
- Your messages and the AI's responses are stored on our servers to provide continuity across sessions
- Conversation content is used to personalize future responses and improve the AI coach
- Conversation history is retained for 90 days by default, after which it is automatically deleted
- You can clear your conversation history at any time in the App settings
- Your conversations are not used to train third-party AI models without your explicit consent
d. Device & usage information
We automatically collect certain information when you use the App, including:
- Device type and operating system
- App usage data and interactions
- Crash logs and performance data
- IP address (used for security and analytics)
e. Third-party integrations
If you connect third-party services (such as Apple Health), we access data from those services only with your explicit permission and solely to improve your experience within Betterself.
Betterself does not store or share Apple Health data outside the App. Apple Health data is used only to provide features explicitly requested by you and in compliance with Apple's HealthKit policies.
02How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the App
- Personalize your AI coach, workouts, meals, habits, and recommendations
- Calculate your daily Health Score and track your Streak
- Improve product performance and user experience
- Communicate with you regarding updates, billing, or support requests
- Ensure security, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations
03How we share your information
We share information only in these limited situations:
- With trusted service providers who help us operate the App (cloud hosting, analytics, AI model providers, crash reporting, payment processing). These providers are contractually required to keep your information confidential and use it only to provide services to us.
- To comply with legal requirements or protect rights, safety, or property.
- In connection with a business transfer (e.g., merger, acquisition, or sale of assets), in which case we will notify you.
- With your consent.
Categories of service providers we currently use include: cloud infrastructure, analytics, AI model providers, subscription management, and crash monitoring. A current list is available on request by emailing the address in Section 11.
04Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
05Data retention
We retain your information as follows:
- Account information — for as long as your account is active, plus up to 30 days after deletion
- Health, fitness, and habit data — for as long as your account is active, plus up to 30 days after deletion
- AI conversation history — 90 days by default, or until you delete it manually
- Payment records — as required by law (typically 7 years)
- Crash logs and analytics — up to 24 months
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through the App settings or by contacting us.
06Your rights and choices
In the app
You can:
- Access and export your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and all associated data directly in the App settings
- Clear your AI conversation history at any time
- Revoke Apple Health permissions at any time through your iPhone Settings
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell (we do not sell)
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (not applicable — we do not sell or share)
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information
- Non-discrimination for exercising your rights

EU / UK residents (GDPR)
If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data
- Object to or restrict processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Our legal basis for processing your data is typically your consent, the performance of a contract (our Terms of Service), or our legitimate interests in operating and improving the App.
07Health disclaimer
Betterself provides fitness and wellness information for educational and informational purposes only.
08Children's privacy
Betterself is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email address in Section 11.
09International data transfers
Betterself is based in the United States. If you access the App from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the U.S. or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the U.S. and other jurisdictions.
For transfers from the EU/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
10Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email and update the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
